What We Believe

Heritage Bible Church is a conservative, Bible-believing congregation in Perry, Ohio. We hold to the fundamentals of the faith and teach the Scriptures expositionally from the King James Bible.

The Simple Gospel

We present the good news the straightforward way God’s Word teaches it—clear, personal, and by faith alone:

  1. All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. Romans 3:23 (KJV)
  2. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 (KJV)
  3. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (KJV)
  4. Whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life—received by faith, not earned by works. John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

Christ died, was buried, and rose again for the forgiveness of sins. If you have never trusted Him, believe the gospel today.

Salvation: Faith Alone in Christ

  • You cannot save yourself. All have sinned; the wages of sin is death. Romans 3:23; 6:23 (KJV)
  • You cannot lose your salvation after you have trusted Christ. Eternal life is God’s gift, not a wage you maintain by performance. John 10:28-29; Ephesians 1:13-14 (KJV)
  • The believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit the moment he or she believes the gospel. 1 Corinthians 12:13; Romans 8:9 (KJV)
  • Rewards in heaven are distinct from salvation. Faithful service—including winning souls to Christ—is rewarded at the Judgment Seat of Christ; loss of reward is not loss of eternal life. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15; Daniel 12:3 (KJV)

These do not save: baptism, walking an aisle, asking Jesus into your heart as a work, being good, going to church, or remorse for sin apart from faith. Only faith in Christ’s finished work—His death for our sins, His burial, and His bodily resurrection—gives everlasting life. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

How We Teach Bible Prophecy (Eschatology)

Heritage teaches Scripture with a dispensational, pre-millennial understanding—reading prophecy literally where the plain sense makes sense, using a classic study-Bible method and dispensational understanding of God’s programs:

  • The Bible is interpreted literally where the plain sense makes sense (especially prophecy).
  • God has distinct programs for Israel and the church.
  • The church may expect the pre-tribulation rapture before Daniel’s seventieth week.
  • Christ will return in person to earth to reign in His millennial kingdom.
  • We look for the blessed hope—the appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13 (KJV)

Prophecy is not guesswork for sensation; it is God’s Word to comfort, warn, and sanctify believers as we await our Lord.
